The Pet Napper
NOTE: Might add English subs when my uni holidays start and if people want them, you can read the whole translation here though. Remember, I'm still studying, so there are probably mistakes! :P
We all love playing with our dogs in the backyard but for many Perth families this has become a thing of the past. They are the victims of the Perth Petnapper.
"Over the last six months there has been a sudden rise in reports of pet theft in Western Australia. Most of the thefts are centred right here in the North Perth suburb of Woodvale."
According to residents, thefts in this area first started in March and have become more and more frequent.
Chiki News was contacted by the latest victim who has asked not to be identified.
Reporter: So, you believe you are another victim of the pet nappings in this area?
Victim: Yes. My Tabbi is such a loyal dog, she would never have run away, I just know she has been pet-napped.
Reporter: And you think you know who might have stolen her?
Victim: I sure do.
The victim believes the petnapper is a newcomer to the area, Tyler Stratton.
Victim: I see him down the park, looking at everybody's dogs.
Reporter: As if he is looking for his next target?
Victim: Yes, that's exactly right.
The victim says she saw Mr Stratton looking over her fence the day before Tabbi disappeared. She says that while she was out Mr Stratton fed her dog treats to stop her from barking and shoved her into a duffel bag.
The next day, the victim searched on the internet for information about her dog and came across this website, Pedigree Bargains. It is an auction website selling a number of pedigree dogs in Australia and this entry looks exactly like her missing dog.
We placed the winning bid for Tabbi, $3000, and arranged to meet the seller in a local park.
Reporter: You are viewing me through a hidden camera in my handbag. I am going to walk to the meeting spot now. I see Mr Stratton!
Petnapper: I've got the dog, do you have the money?
Reporter: This pet looks familiar, are you sure it isn't stolen? Did you steal this pet, MR STRATTON?
There's no use in running, we have you on camera! Ah Tabbi, time for you to go home.
We returned Tabbi to her owner and will send our evidence to the police. It is our hope that Mr Stratton will be suitably charged and the pets of Woodvale will be safe again.
This has been an investigative report by Cheeky News, back to the studio. |
